"Baby Face" Finlayson is a baby who is an outlaw from the American Old West and the title character of his own comic strip in The Beano. His name is derived from the American gangster of the 1930s, Baby Face Nelson. Created by future Beano editor Euan Kerr, Baby Face initially appeared as a minor character in Little Plum but was later given a strip of his own, which first appeared in the comic in issue 1553 (22nd April 1972), subtitled "The Cutest Bandit in the West". The story was drawn by Little Plum artist Ron Spencer and the first series would run until 1977. It later returned for a second series in 1980, with artwork again provided by Spencer. However, in the first strip of this run Baby Face was sent to Britain and the strip was thus retitled "The Cutest Bandit Around". In the final strip of this series, Baby Face was posted back to America by the angry Beano editor, who he had tried to kidnap. He would later return for a short series of stories starting from September 2004, this time drawn by Emilios Hatjoullis.
