Sydney[11] Kate "Toots" Pye[12] is a student in Bash Street School's Class 2B, along with her younger twin brother Sidney. She was originally the only girl in the class, but as of 2021 and 2022, girls Harsha, Mandi, Khadija and Mahira have joined the class. She is also good friends with Minnie the Minx.
Personality[]
Toots is a tomboy who spends most of the time as the only girl in Class 2B, but female students would be later introduced in 2021. Toots is only very sporty, as she is amazing at football, which is her favourite thing to do as of 2016. She is better than all of the boys in her class at football, even when no one is on her team.[13] While she is mostly a tomboy, she does have a very small feminine side as she is a fan of boy bands and has admitted a crush on Dennis the Menace, sending him a valentine. Although most of the kids dislike Dennis, her friendship with Minnie the Minx is also surprising and she is the only kid to show any warmth to either character. She is surprisingly just as tough and as bossy as Danny, Toots is the gang's second-in-command and takes charge in Danny's absence. Her bossiness is exemplified in the feature-length Queen Toots, where she discovers she is connected to royalty. When Toots takes advantage of her power, Dennis announces that she cannot boss him around and she puts him in a makeshift prison tower (quickly populated by other Beanocharacters and the rest of the kids). She loves music, often pulling a "boogie box" (a CD player) behind her or listening to her headphones instead of Teacher and she loves street dancing. Although Toots enjoys the boys' company, she sometimes exhibits disdain, naivete or exasperation at their more boyish behaviour. In the academy makeover, she wears a frilly dress and her hair and face are made up instead of her usually tomboyish clothing.
Physical Appearance[]
Toots has a very tomboyish look to her, by having short untidy black hair with a red bow with black spots in it (the bow is also sometimes blue with black spots on it), a blue and black striped sweatshirt like Sidney, a black skirt, black socks and grey trainers.

- Toots' Diary on the official Beano had her mention that Dennis is the "least annoying" boy in the school.
- In the Beano Character Profiles for the Bash Street Kids, it is mentioned that she has a crush on Dennis.
- Toots and Sidney's name order is very inconsistent. As it is sometimes "Toots and Sidney", while other times it is "Sidney and Toots".
- Most pages on the Official Website and more modern appearances refer to them as "Toots and Sidney", and this is also the case with a few issues from the early 2000s.
- The Beano Video and certain other appearances refer to them as "Sidney and Toots".
- Up until May 2021, Toots was the only girl in The Bash Street Kids.
- It is not clear how Toots got her nickname.
- Toots as a nickname usually means a term used when addressing a young woman.
- But according to Harsha in The Beano no. 4125, it is due to Toots farting, as toots is also another name for farts.
- She is even seen farting on the cover of The Beano no. 4129.
- Toots is one of the few Beano child characters to own a mobile phone (along with Dennis). She is seen owning a light purple phone, but in the Beano Annual 2022, she is seen taking selfie on a smartphone with a pink case.
