Beano Wiki

Trevor Metcalfe (born May 19, 1939 in Brotton, Yorkshire) is a British illustrator and comic book artist. Known for his comic strips in  IPC Magazines comics such as Sweet Tooth and Junior Rotter in Whizzer and Chips. His influences include Leo Baxendale, Reg Parlett and Walt Disney.

For The Beano, he took over as Billy Whizz artist in spring 1993, replacing David Parkins, but would leave the strip later the same year. In the mid 1990s, he also drew Vic Volcano, sharing art duties with his friend Robert Nixon. As his style shared a number of similarities with Nixon's, he also acted as ghost artist for Roger the Dodger and Ivy the Terrible on a number of occasions. He took over as Les Pretend artist in 2004 and continued to draw this strip for about one year. Metcalfe would return to drawing Billy Whizz in 2005, initially ghosting previous artist Wayne Thompson but later establishing a style somewhere between his traditional style and Thompson's before his departure from the comic in 2007.
